Yara is a Swiss nonprofit association dedicated to improving access to education for girls in rural Morocco. Our mission is simple but powerful: we provide bicycles to help girls reach secondary schools that are often far from their homes. In remote Moroccan villages, girls may drop out after primary school because secondary schools are too far away. A bicycle can change that. It’s not just a means of transport — it’s an encouragement for education, a symbol of independence, opportunity and hope.


Who We Are

• Yara Association is based in Switzerland and recognized as a charitable organization by the canton of Graubünden.
• Our board includes Swiss and Moroccan members who work voluntarily and cover their own expenses.
• We follow transparent financial practices and submit annual reports to local authorities.

Our Network – Freundeskreis

We invite supporters to join our Freundeskreis (Circle of Friends), a community of people who share our vision. Members:

• Share ideas, time, and expertise
• Receive newsletters (up to four per year)
• Vote at our annual general meeting
• Can participate in project trips to Morocco

How We’re Funded

Yara is financed entirely through donations and sponsorships.

• All funds go directly to the project — no administrative overhead.
• Bicycles are purchased locally in Morocco, supporting the local economy.
• Our project manager in Morocco ensures proper distribution and maintenance.
• Donations are tax-deductible in Switzerland, and receipts are provided.
